The event, off stage, mixes together comedic sets and opera… I know, it sounds too good to be true. The comedy performances explore different facets of interpersonal relationships and are followed by an original opera that ties together the themes of the night, drawing upon these spoken experiences.

For this project, I have composed a mono-opera (performed by vocalist Emily Steers and pianist Maria Kouznetsova), which will be interspersed throughout the comedic performances. The work focuses on communication with oneself and with others, taking a tongue-in-cheek approach to dealing with those stresses.
